How long have you been coming to CanConquer?
Almost one year. I started just at the end of my chemotherapy, but was still having infusions for anticancer medications. Chemo had made me feel like my insides were ‘raked’ out and I needed to try and stay strong after my surgery and treatments.
My oncologist suggested I attend and recommend this program.
What do you enjoy most about CanConquer?
I love socialising with others in a similar situation. The positive vibe from everyone helped immensely in continuing to show up, and I always felt better after I left. I have increased my stamina and endurance, to help me care for my mother and do the chores, and the day to day things that were once easy.
How has the CanConquer program helped you during and after your treatment?
CanConquer was a place to go and keep my inner strength alive. I would feel terrible, but afterwards would feel more positive, less nauseous and happier. My husband and family loved seeing me be proactive and noticed a difference in my disposition and general happiness through this time. Going to the gym became time for me.
I always had someone watching and keeping an eye on my progress and felt safe and supported. It has definitely kept me going!
You never know how strong you are, until being strong is your only choice. At CanConquer we fight together.
