Carolynn Carpenter aka “Elsa” or “The Fairy Lady”

How long have you lived in the Illawarra? 10 years this year! You’d never know though, my Canadian accent is still somewhat strong. I grew up in Camden but I was born in Canada. My parents are about to move to the Illawarra too! 

What do you love about living in the area? Living in the Illawarra is exactly like the book “Where the forest meets the sea” by Jeannie Baker. There is rainforest, country farmlands and cows, coasts with sandy and salty days, and scenic drives – plus a bustling city centre – with plenty of creatives, cafes, and entertainment. It’s heaven!

We live near Byarong Creek and amongst the trees and birds. It’s the perfect fairytale backdrop for taking all my pics for Fairy Fantasy Parties, and Fairytale Mail. My magician brother (Shaun Micheal Magic) also lives in Figtree – round the corner! 

Favourite cafe or restaurant? I love Lily J for eating in (order the hashbrown!) and coffee. Kiss and Drop for the friendliest baristas ever and amazing coffee – my favourite local with pre-order privileges! I also just discovered Ambiance Ristorante in Unanderra- a hidden gem – I’ll be back for a meal there very soon.  

Ideal start to the day?  Going for a walk with my husband down at the South Beach Foreshore. It’s our only down time together as I work weekends in my kids party entertainment business. We have our coffee in hand and walk the Blue mile, soaking in any sunshine before the start of the work day.
